Why Codestone: strategy and delivery in one partner

Strategic enough to shape the decision,
practical enough to deliver it

Businesses choosing a technology partner usually end up picking between two kinds of firm. Consultancies understand how a business works and will build you a careful case for change, then hand it over before anyone has to make it real. Technology partners know their software thoroughly, but not how your business makes its money, so the system gets configured to the product’s logic rather than yours.

We built Codestone to sit between those two on purpose. We advise, we deliver, and we run it afterwards. The practical effect is that the people who told you what to do are the same people who have to make it work, which changes the advice you get.

Who we are

What 30 years actually buys

The tenure itself is not the point. What matters is the pattern recognition it bought. After more than 2,200 projects you can usually tell within a couple of conversations whether a business is trying to solve a technology problem or a process one, and those need very different answers. Getting that wrong is the most expensive mistake available, and it is almost always made before anyone has chosen a system.

People

What we do

Confidence before you commit, and while the work is under way

We start with your business rather than the software, because our teams pair business practitioners with technology specialists. The first conversations are about finance, operations and commercial pressure, not modules and licences. Working across SAP, Microsoft, CCH Tagetik, cloud, security and data means we have no reason to steer you towards one answer, and we would rather lose the work than sell you the wrong platform.

Once it starts, what people are afraid of is delivery risk, and they are right to be. Scope and governance are agreed before anyone writes a line of configuration, you can see into the programme rather than receiving a summary of it, and we are direct about where a timeline looks optimistic.

Our impact

Confidence after go-live, and in whatever comes next

Going live is not the finish line. The value only shows up when people use the system properly, so we put real effort into training and enablement, with the aim of leaving your team more capable rather than more dependent on us. It is the least glamorous part of the work and the part that decides whether any of it was worth doing.

After that we stay close. Quarterly business reviews surface the manual workarounds and friction that always creep back in, and customer value managers keep hold of the context so you are not re-explaining your business every year. Because we see how your finance, data, infrastructure and security fit together, we tend to spot the next opportunity before you have had to go looking for it.

The credential people tend to miss

We hold the number one ERP-led position in the UK and Northern Europe, and we are ISO accredited. Both are useful, though neither is the thing that matters most.

The more important credential is how the business is put together. We are a reseller, an implementation partner and a managed service provider at the same time, which is rare. It means one organisation is accountable for the licence, the build and the running of it, so there is nobody to point at when something goes wrong. Around 350 specialists across 15 countries sit behind that.

What this means for your business

You get a partner who will sometimes tell you the answer is a smaller change than you came in expecting, or that you should fix a process before buying anything at all. You get delivery from the same people who gave you the advice. And you get a relationship that carries what it has learned about your business forward, so the next decision starts from a better place than the last one.

Electricity North West is a reasonable illustration. Their finance team waited three hours to see posted data. It now takes less than 30 minutes, which is not a headline number so much as the difference between a finance team that reports and one that can actually answer a question.

That is what we mean by confidence. Not a promise that change will be easy, because it rarely is, but a realistic account of how it will go, from people who have done it before and who will still be here afterwards.
